OK WHAT DO ANY OF THESE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT TOUR?! I SLEPT IN A STRANGE WARE HOUSE DURING WINTER IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO WHERE OUR VAN WAS BROKEN INTO ON OUR FIRST TOUR. AND I LOVED IT! NO ONE CAME TO SOME SHOWS! AND ALL I WANT TO DO IS TOUR! THESE PEOPLE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TOURING.
end rant. sorry for yelling.
Basketball Cards is the brain child of drummer/producer Daniel Vega. Inspired by 50’s movies like ‘The Thing You Do,’ vega wanted to write some dreamy pop-tunes. After enlisting friends from several other bands and vocalist Amber Shirah, Basketball Cards was pieced together.
hey it’s me! some people call me ‘vega’, although I just call myself Daniel.
this girl knows me so well. #shespuuuurrrrfect
when I’m sick, I can’t do the three things I love to do, see my girl, hang out with my band, or play basketball. And that sucks. And the two things I sort of hate to do, go to school and go to work, I have to do no matter what.
It takes maybe two seconds for Fang Island’s “Daisy” to announce itself as a mope-free zone — a sunny summer jam in which emotion gives way to perpetual motion. Opening with a rich chorus of “oohs,” the song announces its intentions right away: to live up to the band’s stated…
Now this makes sense. One of the best bands I saw at SXSW, as always. But I don’t understand why they had to reference AWK. This band stands up on its own.
The best act I saw: As I wrote last week, Le Butcherettes singer Teri Gender Bender is something of a stunner. She can howl, she can yell, she can growl the letter “R” into multi-syllables, and she needs little more than one ferocious drum beat to have her way with a song….
what a garbage load of lies. this band was the WORST band I saw all of SXSW. THE WORST. I don’t understand.
7 shows in 6 days, with two different bands (5 with Zlam, 2 with Tactics). I saw Fang Island 2x, Friendly Fires, Givers, Miami Horror, This Will Destroy You, Mars Volta, Cast Spells, Chromeo, and a few others.
Hopefully some good things will come of this, but I’m dead right now.
the girl I’m in love with bought me new cologne, so I can smell beautiful like she is when we’re all alone, and I have my own room and roommates of my own, but when I’m with her I really feel like I am home, and her bed is so comfortable, but we never sleep together, well, uh, never, say never sometimes I fall asleep by mistake, close my eyes for a second, and then before I know it, I get to see the most beautiful sight when I awake
and when I drive home at night, the songs I used to sing for myself, are now sung out for her, for her and no one else, all the songs we love, and the bands that we both share, if I sing loud enough I think well maybe she can hear, even though she’s not here, she’s probably in her bed asleep and I wish that I was there.
The truth is, my love, I love you so much that it hurts, oh.
And as cheesy as I sound I’ve been praticing for the moment when I do, oh I do.
And all those nights I lost by thinking way too hard and long.
I finally realize as long as I have you, I’ll be alright.
The truth is, you know, I’d be nothing without everyone, oh.
” —I’ve been listening to a lot of the Early November lately. Still one of my favorite bands.Dave 1 makes me want a leather jacket, but I’d settle more for his glasses.
TWDY and Chromeo are two of my favorite bands, and I’ve seen both back to back this weekend for free. I love sxsw.
Oh I want to go back home with you, to see the house that watched as you grew, to see the girl that we all knew, pictures before she grew into, the woman that I love so dear, we’ll drive back home, the skies are clear, the wind is fair, the spring time air, leads us home, we’re going there, to see family on your side, maybe mine, no I won’t lie, I’ve thought about it a time or two, but thinking that far, it’s far too soon, so now let’s just enjoy this time, and we’ll see what we come to find, I can’t believe it’s been this long, I pray many more years before we’re all gone.
sports stories always make me cry. sometimes, stories like this remind us we are not in control, and God’s plan for us doesn’t always make sense to us. But God is good, and He is faithful, so even when it’s hard, you just have to keep faith.
I love that you don’t put feathers in your hair, or whatever the trend is, not to be offensive, but that’s the new big glasses, I love how you’re beautiful when you don’t care, it never changes just like classics, decorate my room, and make it yours, those first three letters leave me wanting more
you’re my best friend, till the very end, let’s do everything and then do it again, let’s drink beer and eat pizza and do nothing else all weekend. you’re my best friend, till the very end, and I’m not as tone deaf as I was back then, and you’re the needle on my record as I spin,
and we could make the most beautiful music, in any and every genre, a pop rock and roll opera, a jazz hip hop west coast rap track, we could bring barbershop quartet back, I just want to sing and make music with you, chords melodies and rhythms with you, in every style measure and meter with you, just us and our records in my bed room.
so sing the harmonies with me, you take the highs, I’ll take the lows, let’s sleep in at least one day a week, you can have the sheets and pillows.
Valorie by Travis Maddry. One take, 4 mics, I said I’d do it, and I did it. This is one of the songs he wasn’t going to release, but I wanted to see what you guys thought. Reblog and comment if you don’t mind.
“I was walking by myself, I looked up and lost myself, Valorie I love you! From the moment that we shared that carrot, from the moment that our noses touched, from the moment we started hopping, and every moment since! We held paws and touched our cheeks, those first moments felt like weeks, Valorie I love you! From the moment that we shared that carrot, from the moment that our noses touched, from the moment we started hopping, and every moment since!
Fields of green, fields of green, just like dreams fields of green, fur like snow, fur like snow, how it glows, fur like snow, Here we change fields of snow and fur of snow…”
mixing the song “Valorie” by Travis Maddry right now. He did it in one take, 4 mics, vocals and guitar at the same time. It was has this amazing Decemberists feel to it. I love it. I’ll post a rough copy of it later tonight.
Oh, did I mention it’s a three part saga about rabbits falling in love? Cause it is.
